The DC Youth Tour, sponsored by Oregon Trail Electric Co-op, offers high school students an unforgettable opportunity to explore Washington, D.C., learn about the cooperative business model, and develop leadership skills while connecting with peers nationwide.

2025 DC Youth Tour!

Application deadline - February 1, 2025. 

Local high school juniors who attend school or are home-schooled in Baker, Grant, Harney or Union Counties can apply to go on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., courtesy of Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative.

OTEC’s Youth Tour delegates will represent Oregon and the Northwest and will join with more than 1,800 other students from across the United States for the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The 2025 Youth Tour is Sunday, June 15th –Sunday, June 22nd, 2025

Over the course of the tour, OTEC’s delegates will visit famous historical sites, meet with Oregon’s congressional leaders and learn leadership skills. The students will also create podcasts and digital photo projects as they learn about electric cooperatives and current issues in energy and climate change legislation that face their communities and our nation.

Applications received for the D.C. Youth Tour are evaluated and selected by the OTEC Board of Directors.

Youth Tour Applications are open to qualified high school students whose parent or guardian is a current member of OTEC.
