Community Solar
In 2022, OTEC completed construction on a community solar project in La Grande.
This program (farm) harnesses natural energy from the sun and when done at a utility scale, it is more competitive than installing a solar system at your home or business.
Participating in the output is completely voluntary and is being offered as a opportunity for those OTEC member-owners who want solar as part of their daily energy mix.
The solar farm is located along Highway 30 in La Grande, near OTEC's Ladd Substation.
If you are interested, please call OTEC at 541-523-3616.

OTEC member-owners can "buy in" with as many shares as they want with an upfront cost of $250 per share. Each month you will receive a credit on your bill based on the output of the system and number of shares you purchase. The shares can move within OTEC's service territory (for example, if you currently live in La Grande but move to Baker City, the credits will move to your new account.) The shares are also transferable to any member within OTEC's service territory. OTEC is offering 2,000 shares and they are good for 20 years.
Yes! You can subscribe to community solar whether you own your home or not. Subscribing to community solar saves you the hassle and cost of having to install solar on your home or rental. Community solar is also available for every OTEC member-owner, whether you live in La Grande or Burns. Community solar is also completely voluntary.
Absolutely! OTEC will manage the construction and maintenance, so you can subscribe and receive the benefits without any risk.
Not at all! Community solar is again completely voluntary and will not affect any member-owner's rates if they do not want to participate.
